Hello everyone,

After a windows update (I think), I noticed that my mobile hotspot was not working anymore. So I googled this problem and followed some of the steps suggested. None of them really worked, and I gave up on the problem. A couple days later, I used the wifi connection at home (instead of LAN) and noticed I could not reach certain websites.

For example, I cannot reach:
But I can however
  • use this forum
  • google anything (but not acces some of the websites)
  • ...

For me there is no logic in what I can or cannot acces (but I'm not really a computer genius :) )

Some extra information that might be useful, but could be totally something unrelated:
  • One of the steps for trying to fix the mobile hotspot problem was deleting the register file HostedNetworkSettings (which seemed extremely sketchy at the time, but I did it anyway): HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WlanSvc\Parameters\HostedNetworkSettings\
  • The error message is: DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN (But I swore it was a different messaga yesterday... I did try to empty my DNS cache or something like that)
  • They are working a lot on internet access in the street
  • I can acces every website from my phone (connected to the same internet)
  • I can use a LAN cable (but I only tried it on a different location. Maybe I should try the LAN cable at home)
  • I tried to reset TCP/IP (I'm in waaay over my head), but failed and I got "No operation can be performed on Ethernet while media is diconnected"
  • I did reset the router
  • (my laptop is pretty old (7years) but still works great.)
If someone can make sense of this all, I would be very thankfull for your response.

Thanks in advance, and have a nice day!
