Hey all!

I need a Windows 7 virtual machine in VMWare.

However, VMWare needs it in bootable ISO format to work. Then I have this folder with an installer package of W7 with the following folders and files:

BOOT <folder>
EFI <folder>
SOURCES <folder>
SUPPORT <folder>
UPGRADE <folder>
AUTORUN.INF
BOOTMGR
README.TXT
SETUP.EXE

I managed to pack it into an ISO with Nero but it didn't work (I think it didn't get bootable) because VMWare "recognized" it as a valid ISO while I was setting up the partition but then when the new machine is powered up it seems that VMWare cannot open the ISO and then it starts trying to boot from network.

PS: I tried also a tool called WinISO that didn't work either. It can create a regular ISO, but for bootable it need a file with a .bif extension that I don't have - so it's useless.

Any idea?

Welcome to WindowsQ

Looks like you have everything you need there to make a bootable USB. Simply format the USB as Fat32, copy all those files and folders to it, then mark the partition as Active.

Test that you can boot a physical machine from the USB you made. If so, then see if you can use this method to boot it in VMWare.
