Pulled the trigger on a DJI Mavic Mini. Reviews from Amazon look promising and I cross checked that with fakespot.com which gives the reviews a B. Not too bad considering many reviews on Amazon cross checked with fakespot end up being a C or lower.

Always wanted a drone quadcopter. Hopefully this thing works out. I read a review or two the batteries turn to rubbish. Since they're lithium ion I can't see that happening. Especially with my experience with lots of lithium ion batteries. One reviewer had a great review and said that if you store the batteries for a long period to keep them at least 60% charged. Many people probably don't do this.

Since this is pretty much CCP hardware and sends its data back to China central, I'm going to experiment with a firewall App and hope I can still fly with the firewall on while blocking external connections from the App to the Internet but allow local traffic. I even went so far as to thinking about using a laptop running an Android virtual machine and WIFI so that I can control the data a lot easier from that instead of a phone. LOL It's the nerd ethos that makes one try to hack things that shouldn't do what they're designed to do.
