Yep....I totally agree and feel your pain. Now everything is/has gone digital so buying a game on DVD, the only way to play it is to be online to register it and then have download one of those gaming server platforms. Which we never had to do. As it stands now.....BF3 is the only game I have that I can't play due to that BS.According to a reddit post there are some servers, but this is a load of crap. I bought this game and I couldn't figure out how to fly. Then I was killed instantly even though I was shooting them so I'm told they must have had some perks. Promptly uninstalled. Don't even use Origin for anything. I still to this day love my BF2 and the AIX mod. You can play BF2 via the BF2 Hub third-party client. At one time another third-party client provider had rolled out BF2142 again, but since they were offering the damn BF2 and BF2142 games for free on their website EA sent them a letter and now the BF2142 server capability is gone. BF2 Hub doesn't offer the game for download. Just a third-party client enabling you to still play the damn game. I utterly hate this crap where an Internet connection is required just to play a game. Hell of it is this was started way back in 2005. Now it's almost the mainstay.
As time changes, we must conform or get left behind.
