Desktop background distorted when connected to external monitor

I run a triple monitor setup (laptop connected to 2 external displays), and my desktop background started acting up as of late. I tried experimenting with different wallpapers as well as the stock ones but they all give me the same result; a distorted image. The only wallpaper that is usable at the moment is a solid colour one. I have tried searching all over for a solution on this but could not find one. If I were to disconnect my laptop from my external monitors, then the desktop background will not be distorted when viewed from the laptop screen itself.
p.s. I tried to connect to 1 monitor at a time and it didn't fix the issue

Are these all connected to the laptop? The answer is simple, you have different native resolutions, the laptop screen isnt meant for higher resolutions.

They are all 1080p displays, including the laptop. Also, I did not face this issue until recently. I really don't know what caused it.

Did you receive a graphics driver update recently? Have a look at the Reliability History (use search in the taskbar to find it) for your system and look back to the time when this problem started. See if any graphics drivers were updated and if so try using the driver roll-back option in Device Manager for the Display Adapter.

Another thing to take a look at is how the images are set to display on the external monitors.

In Settings ==> Personalization ==> Background tab, under the 'Choose a fit' are several option. Did you try to alter any of those?

Another thing you can do is to right click on the images under the 'Background' and select an image to only display on a single monitor - however, that doesn't change how the fit works - it works across all monitors, even if you select different images for each monitor.

That solves the issue!! However, I'm faced with a new issue right now. Whenever I try to change my desktop background to any wallpaper/color, the wallpaper will change to all black in a few seconds. Why is that? However, when I try setting a slideshow background, it's working properly

When you change the wallpaper, it changes to all black, then sets the assigned wallpaper? Or it changes to the assigned wallpaper, and then changes to all black and stays all black?

Are you using any antivirus software? Typically, when I've seen the background go to all black, it's usually because of a remote viewing software, like VNC or Remote Desktop. But that is supposed to happen when it is being controlled remotely only. So this, depending upon your answer, may need a lot deeper of a dive. So, if you're *not* using an antivirus program (other than hte built in Windows Defender), that may be something we look at further down the road.

it changes to the assigned wallpaper, then changes to all black almost instantaneously and stays all black. I'm not using any remote viewing software, nor do I use an antivirus software, only Windows Defender.

I'm concerned that something else is using remote viewing without you knowing it - but we can explore that later.

How about any apps that might be interfering with the display? Also, what setting have you picked from the Choose a fit section? Your original pics show that it was probably set to 'tile' or something similar - are you perhaps using something like 'stretch' now, and it is running out of bounds on the monitor and fails to apply?

Can you verify the image that you're using and its dimensions? I'm assuming, as you mentioned, that all three monitors are running at 1920 * 1080 resolution - but also, what about the refresh rates?

I have selected 'Fill' from the Choose a fit section.

Dimensions of the image are 1920*1080. All monitors are 1080p, running at 60hz.

About this "How about any apps that might be interfering with the display?", I don't know and can't tell

What happens if you set a color instead of an image? And where are the image(s) located that you are trying, are they perhaps in a folder shared to OneDrive?

If I were to set it to a color instead of an image, it will switch to this black image no matter what I do. Also, I am unable to trace the location of the black wallpaper, as right clicking on it does not provide the option to open file location.

Huawei support website drivers (Matebook X Pro i5 8GB+256GB (MACH-W19))

The device that shows the yellow triangle with black exclamation mark might be
this USB c docking station that I'm using, but I'm not certain.

Additional note: I'm currently using my old iPad as an external display over wifi, hence the 4th display
