Browsers and Mail Allow or Block Pop-ups and Redirects for Sites in Microsoft Edge

Microsoft_Edge.jpeg

Microsoft has adopted the Chromium open source project in the development of Microsoft Edge on the desktop to create better web compatibility. This new Microsoft Edge runs on the same Chromium web engine as the Google Chrome browser, offering you best in class web compatibility and performance.

The new Chromium based Microsoft Edge is supported on all versions of Windows 7, Windows 8.1, Windows 10, Windows Server (2016 and above), Windows Server (2008 R2 to 2012 R2), and macOS.

Microsoft Edge blocks sites from showing pop-up windows by default.

Most pop-ups are ads, malware, and other unwanted windows. But sometimes you will encounter web pages that require pop-ups, so you may need to occasionally allow pop-ups for all or specific site(s).

OPTION FOUR

Force Allow or Block Pop-ups and Redirects for All Sites in Microsoft Edge for All Users using a REG file

You must be sign in as an administrator to do this option.

This option uses the DefaultPopupsSetting policy to set whether websites can show pop-up windows. You can allow them on all websites ('AllowPopups') or block them on all sites ('BlockPopups'). If you don't configure this policy, pop-up windows are blocked by default, and users can change this setting.

The downloadable .reg files below will add and modify the DWORD value in the registry key below.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Edge

DefaultPopupsSetting DWORD

(delete) = Default
1 = Always allow
2 = Always block

1 Do step 2 (allow), step 3 (block), or step 4 (default) below for what you would like to do.

2 To Force Always Allow Pop-ups and Redirects for All Sites in Microsoft Edge for All Users

This step will disable Option One, Option Two, and Option Three.
